Scatterbrained is moving

Most everyone has quit posting on their blogs, having gone to Facebook etc, so I am consolidating 2 of my blogs, Scatterbrained in Texas and Help me Jesus.  I will continue to have my Should I Buy the Book as a separate blog.

Silly Roo!

Right side up and.....

upside down!

Nothing like a cheap garage sale find to put smiles on my Roo's face.

Girls day out

Tammy, Julie and I hit the road to Fredericksburg early this morning hoping to get some really good garage sale treasures.  Well, they were not all that great but the company was and the roadsides were filled with the beauty of bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, and all kinds of other wildflowers.

We also ran across this guy.

Now that's a lot of bull and horns.

Oh and I spied a peeping dog.

Pretty bluebonnets!

More flowers and friends amongst the flowers.

Oh, I did get mom a birthday present.  She loves pigs.

Although garage sales treasures were not to be had, the day spent with friends was a treasure in itself.

My peeping tom is so busted

While sewing or doing laundry, I could just feel someone's eyes on me.  With camera in hand, I caught the culprit.

She is totally busted!!!

Kissed by God!

My front yard has a few red salvia plants. Looking out the window Sunday morning, I caught a glimpse of my salvia after they had been kissed by God!

Before they had been kissed by God!

The red petals are now golden.  They have been kissed by God.  Makes me think of Moses' face when he came back down the mountain.

Waylon's sunset

Last time Devon was here, he did not want to go home.  It makes Waylon upset but what is he to do.  Roo and the sun decided to call it a night as Waylon was driving to Brady.  Sometimes, God sends rainbows, sometimes He sends sunsets.

Good weekend

Since everything is to everyone's CPA's, except mine (still need one 1099), I decided that this would be the weekend to do my spring cleaning.  Wednesday after work, the yard got mowed and weed eated so I would not have to do it this weekend.  Friday after work, I slightly organized the storage room.  The deck tables and chairs are in there so room is not available.  Everything has ended up at the door.  There is now some semblence of order to that room.

Waylon had swept, mopped and vacuumed the house, so I started in the living room. I dusted everything, cleaned the wooden blinds, dusted the dining room and kitchen.  I did not move every book or movie to dust, that is for another day. There are still kitchen cabinets to unclutter but the kitchen is less cluttered on the cabinets.  I do have a blue dresser drying in there though so you have to walk around drawers and knobs.

Every ceiling fan in the house got a good dusting also.  I will wait to wash curtains until late March.

Saturday, I got up early and cleaned the laundry/sewing room.  I decided that some of the stuff on the wall, while cute, was nothing but dust collecters, so off the wall and to the thrift store.  My laundry/sewing room seems so much bigger now.  Definitely less lint and dust on everything.

I then ventured on to the bathroom/closet, cleaning and uncluttering every drawer and shelf.  I did some re-organzing, got rid of stuff that just collects dust and now I have more room in my closet and less dusting to do.  Dressers scarves, old towels etc are now on their way to new homes.

I am almost finished with my bedroom.  Still have that nasty old bookcase to clean and unclutter.  Waylon painted Devon's dresser that I bought and we let it dry overnight.  Once the knobs go back on, Devon's clothes can leave the bookcase.  I can put Devon's VHS tapes in the place vacated by his clothes.

I took breaks, helped Waylon get the stuff together to paint Devon's dresser (in the kitchen), watched a TV show and a friend came over bearing a carrot cake.  So, there is more to do.  While my goal was to have it all done, I really got more in-depth than I originally planned so I will try to get it done after church.  By Monday, I will be ready to start quilting again.

Once again, it feels good to unclutter.  While I appreciate some of the knickknacks given, I hope my friends and family understand, it was time for some of that stuff to go.  As I am getting back into women's ministry, I will have less time to dust, besides, God has been working with me for over a year to simplify, simplify, simplify.  The less I have, the less burdened I feel.  I really do not need all that stuff hanging on the walls, collecting dust.  Wish my weight would come off as easily as the dust and not come back as fast :)

Well, my break is over, time to get back to cleanin and uncluttering.

Smile

Garage sale art. Take screen door metal, paint it purple. Take round metal disc, with hole in the middle. Paint it bright yellow. Paint on black eyes and mouth. Add a ball bungee cord for nose. Hang it on the fence to mom's garden.

Spring has sprung

My iris' think spring has arrived.

Mom's enclosed garden is taking shape.  She has been considering doing a keyhole garden but would have to haul lots of rock.

Mom and Waylon almost have the pen completed. The cover on the dogpen won't go on until the heat gets too intense.   Still need to put a wire cover over the top so the coons, possoms and birds don't get into the garden.

I did it

Perhaps it was the freezing temps that put the cedar to bed that enabled me to take a deep breath this morning!!  YEAH!!!!

I thought I could

I thought I could, I thought I could breathe but I guess it is not meant to be, at least for now.  Cedar GO AWAY!!!!

Work and breakfast

Although I got quite a bit done around the house yesterday, there was so much more I wanted to accomplish.  Roo comes Thursday and there goes my time for working on Davey's tax info, my tax info and quilting.  Not that I am complaining  :)

This cedar fever has really taken its toll and my energy is so limited.  Last night, right as I was drifting off, I remember the office work I brought home.  Gene needs the data before he leaves early Monday morning for Salt Lake.  As a side note, he will be there during the Sundance Film Festival. Anyway, the sales reports I needed came in late Friday night so there was no opportunity to work on them at the office.

Got up early this morning and dove into working on the reports.  Decided I needed a little energy boost so I raided the frig.  Mom and Waylon are asleep and I did not want to disturb their slumber by cooking.  Like me, cedar has taken its toll on them.

Before I bunny trailed, as I said, I raided the frig.  Are cold chicken hearts and a coke considered a power breakfast??

Just finished my chicken hearts and now it it on to work.

Cedar fever

Cedar fever, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease go away!

Sunday, January 8, 2012

Yuck

Ended up having to work at Davey's yesterday.  on the 2 hr drive, the cedar took over.  By the time I got there, my throat was burning.  I got home from working and had 100.7 temp (my norm is 97.6) and my throat on fire.  Thankfully, this morning, my fever broke and my throat is only sore.  I will sure be glad when cedar fever season is over.

Gloria and her family are coming over for a cookout.  At least I will be able to enjoy their time with us. Now to get ready since yesterday I got nothing accomplished.

Roo goes back to Kristina tomorrow  :(

Flannel, flannel everywhere

The last 2 times I have gone to the thrift store, I have found lots of old flannel sheets and pillowcases.  I probably have enough flannel to make at least 10 quilts.   Guess I better get sewing.

Is there a Flannel Anonymous?

My Journey with Jesus

I try to keep a journal but am concerned someone will find it, read it and be totally upset by what I have written.  My family is unaware of my blog, although they know I have one.  I already have 2 blogs, Scatterbrained in Texas and Should I Buy the Book?.

Today, I will start one more, My Journey with Jesus!  It is more for me than anyone else but anyone can read it.  It will be lessons learned, blessings, failings, etc.....

As the title says, this blog will be about My Journey with Jesus!

Happy New Year!

Where did 2011 go?   As it has been in the past, my only New Year's resolution is to sit at the feet of Jesus more.  I desire for others to see more of Him and less of me.

I pray each of you a year filled with God; His love, His faithfulness, His patience, His timing...
